Rock formation Siurana, Spain

Siurana, Spain

Memories of Spain are always associated with warm evenings, crimson landscapes, and juicy oranges. So, as soon as the winter quiet starts to get boring, the desire appears to treat myself to an active holiday on the rocks.

The Siurana climbing area is located 150 km from Barcelona airport, which is very convenient for a short trip.

Siurana is not new to me — nine years ago, I had already conquered some of the local 8-grade routes. So, when I had some free time and found attractive airfare prices, I didn’t think long before taking the opportunity. At that moment, I didn’t even think about who would be on the other end of the rope (in other words – my climbing partner). After sending several requests to potential climbers who might be interested in such a short and rather spontaneous trip, I was surprised by the silence. The chance to climb was minimal ☹ … but I didn’t want to give up on my plan. Thanks to a photographer I met two years ago during a competition shoot in Munich, I still managed to warm up on the rocks of Siurana.

And even though my fingers didn’t touch the legendary routes, the satisfaction of climbing 6s, 7s, and 8s filled me with enough energy for future projects and workdays. Interesting moves and the positioning of holds were carefully noted in my work notebook and will soon be transferred to the walls of climbing gyms.

Climbing and photography – these are the two things that inspire me for the next day.

I hope this short video will convey the atmosphere of this historic place. Enjoy watching.
